Tanzania Equity Watch | 07 Aug 2015: Tanzania equities sustain the bullish runs … market cap US$69 up
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (Capital Markets in Africa):- The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange index (DSEI) sustained the bullish momentum and end the week on a positive note by surging by 16.56 points or 0.65 percent to close at 2,558.12 points but the Tanzanian domestic Share Index declined by 13.66 points or 0.30 percent to end at 4,546.76 points.
The Banks, Finance & Investment sector index fell by 57.86 point or 1.46 percent to end at 3,898.37 points but Industrial & Allied sector index added 14.46 points or 0.23 percent to close at 6,175.56 points. However, commercial services sector index remained flat to close at 3,932.34 points.
The market capitalization rose by TZS 144 billion (about US$69 million) to end at TZS 23,382 billion relative to market capitalization of TZS 22,237 billion recorded at previous trading session.
Today, the Dar Es Salaam Stock Exchange recorded a total turnover of TZS 498.59 million from 107,773 shares traded in 44 deals compared to the previous session which recorded a turnover of TZS 92.47 million from 118,008 shares traded in 59 deals. CRDB had 16,256 shares traded in 5 deals and National Microfinance Bank exchanged 1,050 shares in 4 deals and Tanzania Breweries Limited traded 12,669 shares in 11 deals. Tanzania Cigarette Company had 69,610 shares in 12 deals. Swissport Tanzania Limited recorded 3,480 shares traded in 4 deals.
On the market strength/breath perspectives, the markets breathe ended positive today, with 8 gainers and 3 laggards. The three laggards were National Media Group, which down by 3.50 percent to end at TZS 3,725 and National Microfinance Bank ended at TZS 2,680 after decreasing by 3.25 percent. Likewise, Jubilee Holdings Limited plummeted by 0.86 percent at TZS 11,530.
On the contrary, Kenya Airways added 10.00 percent at TZS 110.00 and KCB Group gained 3.06 percent to trade at TZS 1,010. East Africa Breweries Limited closed at TZS 6,270 after advancing by 1.29 percent and ACACIA Mining Limited climbed by 1.17 percent to trade at TZS 7,750. Likewise, SWALA Tanzania Limited and TOL Gases Limited rose by 0.91 percent at TZS 556 and 0.74 percent at TZS 680 respectively. Tanzania Cigarette Company surged by 0.53 percent to trade at TZS 3,800 and Tanzania Breweries Limited closed at TZS 15,000 after adding 0.33 percent.
